Howe Park Shooting Leaves 4 Shot in the Arden-Arcade Section of Sacramento County

Sacramento authorities are working a gun violence incident that erupted late Saturday Howe Community Park shooting 2026 at the Howe Community Park area at the time Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were shutting down an unlawful assembly of hundreds of attendees.

Background

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies first arrived at the park at approximately 6:30 PM on April 18 after being notified of people potentially armed with concealed firearms. Shortly after, a follow-up call was made concerning a reported physical confrontation breaking out inside the park.

An overhead unit conducted an aerial sweep but was unable to locate the reported altercation. Regardless, it was apparent that a crowd of several hundred had come together at the location in an unauthorized manner.

When the Shots Rang Out

Officers worked to disperse the crowd by surrounding the park and issuing commands over loudspeakers instructing the hundreds present to vacate the area. Nearly 15 minutes were allowed for attendees to disperse.

While deputies worked to disperse the gathering that 20 to 25 rounds of ammunition were discharged. The sudden gunfire sparked chaos as hundreds ran. Responding personnel quickly moved to locating gunshot victims.

Four People Shot

Altogether, four shooting victims were identified as having gunshot wounds. The four individuals — including a female and three males each apparently in their early to late twenties — were transported to Sacramento area hospitals. Hospital staff indicated that two were treated for serious injuries, one person had injuries of a moderate nature, and one person's injuries were considered minor. Thankfully, no fatalities were reported and all four were stable.

Sacramento fire crews were called to the scene and helped care for the four victims on location.

Crime Scene Evidence

The center of the incident appears to have taken place near the Cottage Way corridor adjacent to the Home Depot store at the 2200 Howe Avenue block. CSI personnel found additional shell casings throughout the Cottage Way area. Bullet holes were identified in the wrought iron fence adjacent to the nearby Home Depot. This evidence suggested that at least one of the shooters had been sending rounds south from along Cottage Way in the direction of the Home Depot. The store itself was put under lockdown as a precaution. CSI investigators and detectives kept processing evidence well into the night.

Suspect Information

Intelligence received through law enforcement radio communications indicated that a suspect Kia had been stopped in an area within Solano County. Four people were detained. Deputies were sent to retrieve the detainees to collect the individuals for investigation. Footage analyzed by investigators revealed that the shooting involved two separate gunmen.
